James Freeman
James Freeman is a Director-Wealth Management with the investment firm of Smith Barney where he is a member of the Sedgewood Group, a wealth management team that specializes in estate planning, trust services and investments. He has worked for Smith Barney for 24 years. Prior to Smith Barney, he was in corporate banking with Wachovia Bank.
Before joining the Board of Jacob’s Ladder in April, 2007, James had finished a six year term on the Board of Trustees of Providence Day School. During his tenure there he worked on the Development Committee, chaired the Investment Committee and served on and chaired the Finance Committee. Other community service activities have included The United Way and the YMCA. He is a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church.
James was raised in Virginia and graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in Commerce and a concentration in accounting. He has a daughter, age 22 and son, age 18. In his spare time he enjoys exercise, yoga, golf, reading and time with his family.
