Bill Thompson, Board Chair
Bill Thompson is a Partner of Hunter Global Investors, a New York based money management group. At Hunter, Bill is part of a Charlotte-based team primarily investing in consumer/retail investments worldwide. His main business focus is analyzing and investing in gaming, restaurant, and retail companies.
Bill has been in the investment management business since 1994. Prior to Hunter, he was Director of Research at Cambium Capital, where he was responsible for the research effort for the Cambium long/short equity funds. Before joining Cambium, Bill had been a senior analyst/portfolio manager at James M. Myers & Co., Inc.. He received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1999.
Born and raised in Charlotte, Bill gives back to the community through various civic endeavors. He joined the board of Jacob’s Ladder in 2002 and was Treasurer prior to becoming Board Chair. Besides his leadership role at Jacob's Ladder, Bill is on the board of the CCR and was formerly the Treasurer. He serves on the scholarship committee for the Bridge Foundation. He also is on the scholarship committee for the Bridge Foundation, which awards a college scholarship to a Mecklenburg County student each year, and is a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church.
Bill serves on the board of the Thompson Family Foundation, a charitable foundation set up by his parents, Jim and Meredith Thompson. The Foundation was established in the 1990s to donate funds mainly to area charities and churches.
Bill was educated at Woodberry Forest School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife, Kristy, have two children, Wills and Julia. He enjoys spending time with family, reading, golfing and fly fishing. |
