Call for Marketing and Communications Volunteers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Charlotte, NC — On Friday, November 16, Marketing and Communication professionals have a chance to reach out to their neighbors-in-need. Jacob's Ladder Job Center, Inc. is looking to grow its volunteer Marketing/Communications Committee. Jacob's Ladder is specifically looking for public relations specialists, marketing personnel, writers and photographers to help spread the word about the work of Jacob's Ladder.

Jacob's Ladder works to assist the unemployed and underemployed find and keep living wage jobs. We offer a free job readiness program helps the most under-served segment of Charlotte: the homeless, neighbors who have grown up in generational poverty, and ex-offenders who find doors shut in their faces even 10 years after their crimes and have paid their dues and need a second chance.

Our clients are ready to work! We need YOU to help us reach more people who need our assistance. The majority of volunteer positions can be done from home or your office with few in-office meetings.

Please attend an informational luncheon on Friday, November 16 at 12:30 p.m. at 2304 The Plaza.

The mission of Jacob's Ladder Job Center, Inc. is to help the unemployed and underemployed find and keep living wage jobs. Our free comprehensive job readiness program serves 400 low-wealth clients annually. Newly employed clients receive six months personal follow-up and coaching. Founded in September 1998, Jacob's Ladder has assisted over 2800 citizens.

Business is booming at Jacob's Ladder: Today, unemployment for African Americans in Mecklenburg is at 9.8% vs. 4.2% for overall unemployment.
